ノーベル賞を受賞したハンガン作家の作品です。雪をこれほど多彩に描ける作家を見たことがなかったので、心に残りました。鳥を重要なモチーフとしている点も印象的でした。韓国の歴史「済州４・３事件」をテーマにしていますが、戦争が続く今につながる物語であり、記憶を継承する重要な役割を持った小説だと感じています。
