Life as a teacher and a student is full of ups and downs

2019年1月17日

Recently I have been feeling so many highs and lows.
Life has gone from being the closest to perfect it has ever been, to coming crashing down and feeling as if the world is closing in around me.

Sometimes a lack of stability can be frightening and disorienting, but from another perspective it can be liberating and provide freedom.

Is there even such thing as 'stability' in today's day and age?
My Dad was an engineer for almost 30 years, and was one day made redundant due to company cut backs.
He felt this his job and life were 100% secure. He was able to pay for his mortgage, and provide a good life for his wife and two kids, but one day that was all taken away without warning.

I was once told by my own teacher that 'stability is just an illusion'.

Essentially I was frightened to leave my comfortable life in the UK due to it's supposed comfort and stability, and instead wanted to wait until things were not going so well to leave and travel to live in Japan. But what if that time never came? Waiting for things go bad, is a strange concept. If things kept going well with business in the UK, was I destined for a life in London forever?
All of this because of a stability and comfort that I believed existed.

In truth, I now see that everything is just a matter of personal perspective, and depending on our own mindset, we will percieve the same situation completely different from moment to moment.

I have now gone back to feeling that the future is uncertain.
There is no stability and comfort.

But perhaps this is something to embrace and appreciate?

After all, not many people get to experience this in their lives.

For many, the cycle of monotony is perpetuated from graduation until they lie on their death bed.

Is this really living?

Again - it is all a matter of perspective.

Who am I to comment on anything other than my own life........
