Over the last weekend, my family and I made a two-day trip to Odawara City, located in western Kanagawa Prefecture. It can be accessed by a bullet train and takes about half an hour from Tokyo. The highlight this time was the visit to Odawara Castle. Since it was during the Cherry-Blossom Festival, there were numerous visitors appreciating cherry blossoms, strolling around food stalls and climbing up to the top level of the castle tower. Odawara Castle is one of the most recommended sightseeing spots in Kanagawa. As a unique hands-on activity, I recommend you to try borrowing a suit of armor or kimono at the Hommaru Square and take photos with Odawara Castle as the background. You might be able to feel like being transported back in time to the Warring States period!
