Handmade Udon Experience

Mar 16, 2020

Hello everyone !

So 2 years ago, I went on an udon making experience at Dotaku Udon shop in Hino City!
I was able to dress and work in the udon shop and make my own noodles for lunch/ supper along with tempura. Their food is so delicious that I have taken my family there in the summer of 2019 and another family dinner in Oct 2019 and recently with my ex-coworker. If you have the chance to do this tour I hightly recommened it! It`s very fun to make your own food and get a good atmosphere with the locals. I love eating udon! how about you? whats your favorite noodle dish? udon, soba, ramen ... or something else?

Let me know by comment or lets have a relaxed chat sometime soon!

The main photo of this article was from the first time that I went on this expereience in Jan 2018. This tour also includes a local city walk and local history of the shinsengumi which I also found really interesting.

This photo is of the udon shops son Kenta showing my uncle how to make the udon noodles and myself in the back rolling out the dough.

My uncle, my mum and myself eating the fantastic meal that we had made that day! There was so much food! I recommend going on a empty stomach light breakfast!

In October 2019, I took my grandmothers cousin to this shop to enjoy the full course meal. Again it was delicious and filling!

This past weekend in March 2020, I went again this time just to enjoy the food and keep my ex-co-worker company while she made the udon noodles this time.

I hope you will have the chance to experience this and go to this shop, it`s one of the only shops left that still makes their noodles by hand everyday. This family has been running this shop for 30 years now.

I look forward to hearing your stories and experiences in Japan and with food!

Cheers for now,

StephanieRiann
