Life in Toronto amid Covid 19

Mar 21, 2020

Life is absolutely boring these days after most businesses are closed.

Schools, recreation facilities such as gyms and swimming pools are closed.

Dental offices and salons are also closed.

Since 2-3 days ago, restaurants that do not offer take-out services are forced to close.  McDonald's only offer drive-thru services.  My friend and I went to McDonald's yesterday.  We bought some breakfast muffins and ate in the car.  It was too cold to eat in the park.

My friend and I went to several shopping malls since we both needed to buy something.  The malls are open but all the shops are closed, as you can see from the pictures.

Watching the news is causing me anxiety, and I try to avoid it.  However, once or twice a day, I do tune in to the Breaking News channel to get an update.

I heard from my students and friends in Asia that life is still pretty normal, except that some people are working from home now.  Well, at least restaurants and shops are still open and they can go out for fun sometimes.

I

hope things will get back to normal soon.  Everyone is on edge.
