It's time to start using summer idioms!

Aug 2, 2020

Hi guys!

Temperatures are soaring in a lot of countries at the moment so what's more fitting than introducing some summer idioms into our speaking.

Definition of idioms: group of words in a fixed order that have a particular meaning that is different from the meanings of each word on its own (Cambridge Dictionary)

5 common idioms that include words related to 'summer':

Travel on a shoestring= travel with a very small amount of money
A drop in the ocean=  A very small amount, especially when compared to a much larger one
Full of hot air= when someone is full of nonsense
Dog days of summer= hottest time of the year
Indian summer= unusually hot weather that might occur around mid-autumn

The weather here in England has been so lovely lately! Look out those blue skies!!

Tell me what you think...!
