Jack Detroit's Recommended Children's Books + Bedtime Stories!

每週主題: Children's Books for Recommendation

2020年9月22日

Books have been important to me for as long as I can remember. When I was a baby, my parents would read to me. And as soon as I learned, I read my own bedtime stories. Books are one of the most important things in our lives.

Here are three bedtime stories I recommend + extra!

The Missing Piece
by Shel Silverstein  It was missing a piece. And it was not happy. What it finds on its search for the missing piece is simply and touchingly told. It is a story about finding your purpose and fulfilment.

How I Became a Pirate
by Melinda Long   Pirates have green teeth—when they have any teeth at all. I know about pirates, because one day, when I was at the beach building a sand castle and minding my own business, a pirate ship sailed into view.So proclaims Jeremy Jacob, a boy who joins Captain Braid Beard and his crew

Stone Soup
by Jon J. Muth     Three strangers, hungry and tired, pass through a war-torn village. Embittered and suspicious from the war, the people hide their food and close their windows tight. That is, until the clever strangers suggest making a soup from stones. Intrigued by the idea, everyone brings what they have until-- together, they have made a feast fit for a king!

All of these stories have 5 stars on Amazon and Good Reads. I also recommend you listen to me! That's right! I created a podcast for children who can't fall asleep called Uncle Johnjohn Reads...a totally improvised bedtime story from illustrations. I hope you and your children enjoy them:  here I am reading The Giant and The Dwarf  http://y2u.be/dg78NxOXQ9E
