A funny human-animal interaction

Weekly Topic: A funny human-animal interaction

Oct 20, 2020

I came over to my friend's house who was then living in Toronto. I noticed that in the plastic bag hanging on one of the knobs of the kitchen cabinets was a bunch of black fur, almost like hair. I thought one of my friend's roommates had maybe gotten a haircut and put it in the plastic bag.

Then I started hearing a low purr. So I told my friend that the fur in the bag was making sounds. His plan was to put another plastic bag over it and close it. He tried but when he was putting the bag inside, a squirrel jumped out! We had no idea how it got there because all the windows had been closed. He ran away to one of the corners and my friend decided to get a broom to shoo it away. It didn't like that my friend had a broom so it was ready to attack and was growling.

After chasing it up and down the hallway, it eventually ran downstairs to the first floor, then to the basement units. We told his roommates that there's a squirrel in the house and they need to be careful. One of the roommates found it the next day under one of the tables and it was eventually released outside through the front door.

Although my title says 'funny human-animal interaction', I could say that at the time, it was quite scary. Now I can laugh about it and remember it as a funny memory. :D
