My Way of Relaxing

Relaxation nowadays is a rare commodity. But we must still find time to relax because it is a good way to recharge. Relaxing also helps keep us sane in this otherwise crazy world. Some people have techniques for relaxing, like deep breathing or meditating. Others do activities such as yoga or getting a massage in a spa. Some work out at the gym, and some read books, while others just put their feet up and listen to music. One thing is for sure, though, a great way to relax is to disengage from work-related things.

One of the ways I relax on weekend afternoons is by having coffee.  I allow myself an hour where I don’t have to hurry up and do something else.  I just sit in my garden. My dogs would be sitting right beside me.  I would empty my mind of things from the outside world. I would sip coffee. I just look at my plants, especially the vegetables. I would also walk amongst the plants and see which of them are starting to flower or bear fruit. Is it the tomatoes this time or the eggplants, or the pumpkin?  I would look into some pots and try to spot seeds that are beginning to sprout.

Sometimes, I would take the dogs for a walk instead, just a leisurely and unhurried walk. I would take them to the neighborhood park and stroll among the trees. When the sunset is awfully stunning, I just sit on a bench and watch it while my puppers rest beside me. I would talk to them and ask questions even. They would just usually stare at me. I don’t care whether they understood me or not. I can see that they are happy and contented. That’s all that matters. Aah, relaxing.
