Many people believe in the concept of reincarnation. Reincarnation is the belief that once a person passes away, they will be reborn as a completely new life form. This new life form, depending on who you're talking to, could be another fellow human being, or it can be an animal. While I'm not entirely sure if i believe in reincarnation myself, I do love the idea that a person can never truly die. I don't know about you, but dying is definitely something I'd do anything to avoid.
If I had the power to be born again, I wouldn't want to be an animal, because they don't live as long as humans. Sure, some animals are very cute, but chances are good that I'd be locked up in a cage or behind a tall fence throughout my life. That doesn't sounds fun to me. I like the idea of coming back as a different person, but what if I turn out to be a bad person? Or, what if my entire family lives in poverty with no way of escaping? Maybe it's unlikely, but there are too many uncertainties.
I've decided that if I would be reborn, if I were given another chance at life on this planet, I would want to return as a tree. Yes, an ancient, stately, beautiful tree. At least, I'd hope to live for a long time, because then I would have a greater size. A tree is something every person and every animal can admire and enjoy. Even smaller trees can brighten up a person's day. They fit in very well inside little flower gardens and greenhouses.
If I was a tree, then my leaves could change color in the autumn. I would look green and elegant in the spring. My leaves would provide shade for people and food for animals during the hot summer months. A family sitting outside for a picnic, a young boy who's feeling tired after running around with his friends, a deer who wandered away from its mom to find a small snack to eat on the way to a river, a student who wants some quiet time to herself to read her favorite novel. A tree can help them all!
All I would need is rainfall to feel comfortable and well-fed. That sounds very low-maintanance. Right now, as a human, I'm not a fan of the cold, despite living in Canada. I often fantasize about a world in which we can watch the snow fall down around us in 28 degrees Celcius tempertatures. If I feel cold as a tree, all I have to do is go into hibernation mode. How great is that? I would never have to deal with the cold ever again, simply waking up in the spring! And, I wouldn't have to worry about missing out on the holidays, because trees don't celebrate Christmas.
As a tree, I would live as a source of food, shade on sunny days, visual enjoyment, a sense of belonging, inspiration for an art project, the meaning of beauty in nature, and more. I would live to make others happy, and that's something I strive for now in my life. I never want to stop bringing smiles to people's faces. That's why, when I die, if reincarnation is real thing, I'd like to come back as a huge, gorgeous tree, ready to offer comfort, sustenance, and love.
