Garden Journal #1

Since I've started a new routine of weeding and clearing my garden in the mornings, I thought I might make a weekly journal to help make that habit stronger.

In our garden we have a large plum tree, and every year my mother-in-law and father-in-law come to help us collect them and later make them into umeboshi and plum juice. This year we collected so many, but there were still a lot that we couldn't reach or see.

For the last few days the plums have been falling onto the ground every now and then, making a pleasant 'thump' sound. Despite picking a lot up this morning, there are already newly fallen plums in the garden a few hours later.

Other than that, the hydrangea plant is in full bloom. I've heard that if the soil is acidic, the flowers will turn blue, while if it is alkaline, it will turn purple.

The weather is getting hotter and the mosquitos are out, but it's been great to be outside in the mornings this week.

Well that's all for now! Do you have a garden? What are you growing? Do you have any tips for keeping mosquitos away? Let me know.
