Have you heard of a vignette? A vignette is a very short story. It is supposed to create an interesting atmosphere.

I wrote a vignette about summer. My vignette is very stylized. It has three important points:

1. It uses poetic formatting. Each sentence is in one line.
2. It uses lots of repetition. The same phrases are used again and again.
3. It uses incomplete sentences sometimes.

私は、夏についてのヴィネットを書きました。私のヴィネットは型がしっかりしています。

これには3つの重要なポイントがあります。

１）詩的な書式を使います。それぞれの文は1行になります。

２）何度も繰り返します。同じフレーズが何度も使われます。

３）不完全な文章を使うこともあります。

Look for the repetition. Try to write your own vignette in the same style. Keep the same repetition, but fill in your own topic and give your own atmosphere details!

まずは「繰り返し」を探しましょう。同じスタイルであなた自身のヴィネットを書いてみてください。同じ「繰り返し」を何度も使います。自分のことを型にはめてみて、オリジナルの雰囲気を詳しく表現してみましょう。

When I go to the beach, I am alive again.

I am a child again.

The ocean fills my ears, the smell of food fills

my nose, views of women fill my eyes.

I swim a little, I relax a lot.

I forget not just my work, but my worries.

I remember the moment.

I long for the beach--

When I can lie on a towel and chat with my wife.

When we can laugh together and feel young again.

When life slows down for a day or two.

Sadness sometimes comes along with me--

I never want this time to end.

I never want this time to change.

I never want this time to pass.

When summer is here, I am a child again.

I do not want to open the windows, but I know I should.

I can afford air conditioning.

I want to go outside even though it is too hot.

I will go to the beach again.
