What do you like to do in autumn?

Autumn is the best season for ...

Holly Sensei

As you probably know, 秋 is fall or autumn. This is my favorite season, and I'm sure you can relate!

I'm from the Northeastern part of Connecticut, in the US. Like many places in Japan, we also have four distinct seasons. I've made a little list of fun fall activities. Do you enjoy them too?

I really enjoy baking. The majority of things I bake are breads, like
pumpkin bread, or cakes.

2.
I wonder if this sounds strange?

In English, 'sweater weather' is a common expression.

It just means that time of year when the temperature drops and people start wearing sweaters.

Personally, I love sweaters, so this is a non-issue for me.

I hope this makes sense.

I am using it in the "arts and crafts" sense of making

things yourself. This is the time to get the fabric scraps out and sew a

masterpiece! The best birthday gift I got this year was an old, secondhand tin of buttons which

I have already used to fix a coat.

I love fall, especially when it's a bit chilly, but still comfortable enough to walk

outside. The sky and the clouds are especially expressive this time of year.

While talking a walk outside, the smell of wood-burning stoves is often there. Many people where

I'm from still have woodstoves or fireplaces, and they begin to use them in the fall.

I am always amazed at the sheer variety of colors to be found amongst

leaves in autumn, orange, gold, vibrant red, occasional bright green, crunchy brown, and even

some maple that have hints of pink in them.

I love persimmons. I had never really seen persimmons or had the chance to eat them until I

came to Japan. They look the part of an autumn fruit, with their coppery to deep orange color.

They are sweet and distinctive. After a bit of time, I associated them with autumn in Japan.

8.

Chestnuts is one of those things I didn't really associate with fall, even though we have tons of

them that fall from the trees and an old song about "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire."

Well, until I came to Japan, I'd never even had a roasted chestnut! As a desse

rt, they're

awesome and I highly recommend them!

I enjoy scary films anytime of the year. However: I don't like violence or blood. So, perhaps

I can amend this to atmospheric? A little scary? Fall is this perfect time to watch a film like this,

indoors!

My collection of fluffy blankets is giving me hope right now. Things are always better with a fuzzy

blanket around!

I hope you enjoyed my little list! Please comment about your favorite fall things!
