READ Aloud to work on your vocal muscles, improve speech, clarity and confidence

May 9, 2022

Have you ever struggled to understand what someone is trying to say because their words and sentences sound muffled or like they’ve swallowed some of their syllables or letters?
It is crucial that we sound CLEAR so that our listeners CLEARLY UNDERSTAND what we’re trying to say.

Working on our vocal organs and muscles helps. Here are some suggestions:

  • Stand in front of a mirror and observe how your mouth moves as you speak.
  • Read aloud with a teacher who can help you correct your pronunciation and apply word stress and intonation when you read.
  • Practice the same word or sentence over and over again until you get it right!
  • Try tongue twisters. Here are some: "Red lorry, yellow lorry"  ; "She bought seashells on the seashore"
