If I had the choice I’d go for a swim. By preference, in the sea :-)
However, if forced to choose between the two, in my younger years I most certainly would’ve gone to the gym to pump a little iron, build the biceps and triceps. Benchpress as much as possible.
These days I much prefer going for a walk in the park. Or even better, a walk along the seafront. Watch the birds and fish frolicking in the shallows. The glint of the sun on the shimmering waters.
A step further would be a gentle hike across the hills and mountains nearby. Admiring the flora and fauna of the rugged landscape.
But give me a swimming pool and I’m a happy man chugging slowly up-and-down, meditating on nothing but the buoyancy and gentle exercise, building up an appetite for later.
Then home for a big dinner:)
