Amazon launches Kindle Scribe

2022-09-30

Morning everyone! This's Yishu.

If you've read my previous articles, you'd known that I am an avid reader who reads paper books and kindle books. So today, I'm very excited to know that Amazon has unveiled the Kindle Scribe, a new E Ink Kindle that aims to be the first writing-friendly device.

Kindle was launched 15 years ago and I've been an e-reader for 13 years or so. Before this brand new product, Amazon's other E Ink Kindle intended to do away with paper books, but the Scribe has a bigger goal: it aims to replace paper entirely. "Writing on Kindle Scribe feels like writing on paper. From the natural grip of the pen in your hand, to the sound you hear when you write, its surface is crafted for the best possible reading and writing experience." Amazon said.

Users will be able to add handwritten notes to books, scribble on pdf files, and make notes in their own documents, according to Amazon. However, one key functionality which seems crucial to me, is absentScribe owners will not be able to write directly on to ebooks bought from Kindle publishers. They can make attach notes, but are unable to, for example, underline a sentence or write in the margin next to it.

The Scribe is available for preorder from yesterday (29 September) for £329.99, and will be released on 30 November, Amazon says. Until my writing was finished, there was no user review on Youtube. So we'll wait and see, I guess. If you are also interested in the Scribe, you can find more information here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVA-JFTkBtk

Well, that's a piece of news I'd like to share with you. Thanks for reading. If you'd like to have a little about reading or Kindle or anything you feel like talking, please feel free to reach out!

See ya!
