My Trip to America

Aspen Kumagai

Thank you to everyone who waited while I returned to America to see my family. ^-^ It was also the first time my husband and in-laws met with my family. It was a very big trip for everyone.

My family lives in a state called Missouri. It's very countryside! There are a lot of wild animals as well as farm animals like cows and sheep. Here are some pictures that were taken around the house. We saw a wild rabbit and wild skunks. You can see a mother skunk and her babies.

There are white spots on the hill in the next picture. Those are sheep! There's a sheep farm next to the house. They are kind of noisy. They talk to each other all day and night. Sometimes the sheepdogs bark and herd them together. It's a lot of fun to watch.

Missouri is also famous for having a lot of cliffs and caves. While driving, you can see a lot of beautiful cliffs along the road. They are unique in that we can see layers of stone that were made thousands of years ago. We can also see them while hiking and find lots of beautiful waterfalls too.

Missouri is also famous for the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. We can ride to the top and have a wonderful view of the city! It's very high and narrow so we can feel the wind pushing when we're at the top. I'm scared of heights so it's not very fun for me. But my husband and in-laws had a lot of fun!

On our final day in Missouri, we had a BBQ in the backyard. My dad and my father-in-law grilled a lot of meat and vegetables. They shared different recipes for sauces. They also talked about food that is popular in America and Japan.

We had a very busy trip and traveled to many places. It was a lot of fun! I was really happy that my two families got along really well! My brother had so much fun he plans to come to Japan this August. It'll be his second trip to Japan. He's excited to eat Japanese food and go to many festivals.
