Crock Pots Or Slow Cookers

After living outside the United States and being around a different cuisine for some time, I have come to realize that something as basic as the manner in which something is cooked can be markedly different. Imagine a world in which hardly anybody has a rice cooker. People boil rice until it explodes. Now, in this world, imagine that everyone has a crock pot. Everyone. Crock pots aren't for anything specific, though certain common dishes are commonly made in them. They are like a completely different mode of cooking. They aren't ovens. They aren't your stove. They're similar to cooking on the stove, but done in a ceramic bowl at a low heat that cooks for hours. They need a little liquid in them, similar to a pressure cooker, but cook things slower rather than faster. They're a good way for meat to be tender--and soups to be savoury.

In the video, the cook uses chuck roast. Brisket and bottom-round roast also do excellent in a slow cooker. If you like we can talk about food culture. I have friends who are foodies and love to cook.
