The benefit of Stress free Learning

Leco

Many students tend to believe the idea 'Language improves as much as you study.'

Teaching the language for 10 years told me 'this idea is not quite true'.

I mean you can study as much as you can but the long hour study tend to turn inefficient in the end.Because learning a new language is a quite challenge and it stresses students out before you actually learn a lot. From my experience of teaching the language for 10 years, I highly recommend what is called stress free learning.

▶What is stress free learning?
Stress free learning is that you stop your study whenever you feel tired, overwhelmed or
something you feel awkward. In this way, you can avoid getting a lot of stress
and hating the foreign language. You're able to continue your study for long time.

Let me give you an example.I've learning Korean since last October
but learning Korean alphabet was quite challenging for me in the beginning.
While reading a text, I felt irritated not to understand what it meant.
I got frustrated to remember all letters.
Whenever I feel these emotions, I stopped my study and left it for next day to retry.
This stop was quite important for me to continue studying Korean.
If I had pushed myself, I would have hated it and stopped learning it.

▶What is the ideal stress free study time?
The time you feel stress really depends on students.
So, what I'd like to encourage is doing an experiment for a first couple weeks to study new thing.
10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour…try different study time would help you to find the best time to stop and leave the stress behind.
In my case, 10 minutes is the best time to start to study something new.

Learning language should be fun, but it stresses you in the beginning because everything is new to you. So, take time, have your own pace, and stop whenever you are frustrated.
Perhaps your first step is slow but the step will surly accelerate your learning when your brain is ready to absorb it.
Be stress free and excited for what you learn!
