Singing for the Eagles: A Compliment I'll Never Forget ᵎᵎ( ๑˃̶ ꇴ ˂̶)♪ ⁺。o

Weekly Topic: The best compliment you have ever received

Sunshine

Back in April 2022, I received the best compliment of my life. For those who don’t know, I am a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. Even after moving to Japan, I never stopped watching their games and cheering them on despite the time difference.

My love for the team even inspired me to call my local sports radio show from halfway around the world. Being such a dedicated fan in Japan, I quickly gained popularity in Philadelphia and parts of South NJ. This was because I sang parody songs and Philly’s famous Eagles Fight Song in Japanese.

As my radio calls gained more attention, the station gave me the chance to chat with up-and-coming Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata. For those who don’t know him, he was originally a rugby player who got drafted to play for Philly in American football. Like me, he loves singing, especially Japanese-style karaoke.

When it was my turn to speak live on air, I decided to show my support for Mailata by singing a special parody song about him based on his favorite film, “Moana”.

Mailata was so honored to have a song about him that he announced live on air for all of Philly to hear that I was a great singer. I was shocked that such a talented football player would compliment me like that. It is not only one of the best compliments I’ve ever received but also a memory I’ll never forget.

Do you have a best compliment story too? I would love to hear it and other memories. Thanks for reading mine, and I hope to hear from you soon!
