My grandmother's dream

Weekly Topic: Who influenced you the most in your life?

———————

When I was little, my grandmother told me that she had wanted to go to Brazil when she was young.

Nowadays, we can fly anywhere in the world, but when my grandmother was young, there were no planes. I wonder how long it would have taken to get to Brazil by ship.

It seemed like my grandmother had almost decided to go to Brazil. However, she gave up on the plan after hearing news that a ship was unable to reach Brazil due to some problems. I only heard the story once, but I still remember it in my heart. I feel like this is the reason why I wanted to live abroad.

My dream came true and I was able to live abroad, and now I can talk to people living overseas and learn about the local stories online. It's very different from my grandmother's time. If my grandmother hadn't heard the news then, if she had arrived safely in Brazil, I don't think I would be here now. It's amazing to think that in that era, even in a small town, there was a girl who dreamed of a new world. I think my grandmother was a courageous person and I still have a lot of respect for her.
