Welcome to Day 7 of the 30 Day Vocabulary Challenge. Each day, I will post 3 vocabulary words. If you missed yesterday's challenge, here is the link.
I often tell my students that learning new vocabulary is the fastest way to improve your overall English level. It has been said that everytime we learn 1000 new words, our level in a language increases.
1000 words may sound like a lot, but it really isn't. There are 365 days in a year, which means if you want to improve your English level in 1 year, you need to learn less than 3 words per day. Of course, if you want to improve faster, you can learn more.
Memorizing vocabulary can often be a dreaded task for students, but it doesn't have to be. Learning a new language is all about having fun! I encourage you to just pick 3 words that you know in your native language but don't know in the language that you are studying. Then, try to use those words in fun and meaningful sentences.
Here are today's three words. If you already know these words, no worry! Please head to the very useful website, www.thesaurus.com , to find a synonym or antonym of the word(s) that you already know.
Today's 3 words:
Please click the links to learn the definitions of these words. Then try to make sentences using these words. For example:
“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
