Gingerbread spiced chai latte

Weekly Topic: Your favorite drink for the Holiday Season (What is famous in your area)

Hannah N

My favourite drink in winter is a 'gingerbread spiced chai latte'. Chai lattes are very popular in the UK, you can buy them in almost any café. Despite the name 'latte', they don't contain any coffee. 'Chai' is a word from India which means 'tea' and 'latte' is Italian for 'milk'. So a chai latte is tea with milk and spices.

A lot of cafés sell special flavoured chai lattes according to the season. In autumn 'pumpkin spice chai latte' is popular, and in winter my favourite is gingerbread!

Most cafés have special drinks at Christmas time, I think Costa Coffee has an especially unique and creative selection. For example 'chocolate orange' flavour, 'blackforest gateau' flavour etc...

Winter is the time for taking it easy and enjoying lots of warm drinks in cafés, so it's fun to try new flavours! :)
