Exploring the World of Books

Weekly Topic: Message to the students

EmilyGL

One of the pleasures of learning a language is being able to read interesting books in it. It can be like entering a  different world and there is always satisfaction in thinking of a word that is a good translation or a natural idiom in your first language.

This can be a very short story like a detective story - I have tried reading this kind of book in German, and even if I have to use a dictionary and go slowly, it is great fun!

Or you might be proficient and already reading poetry and novels, and like to work out the finer points at an advanced level.

I have two kinds of lesson for reading for adults: one is a gentle introduction to books with well-known stories that are especially adapted for learners; the other is an advanced lesson for detailed study of literature.

Both the lessons allow you to step inside life in a a different world and find out about the heritage of Britain.
