I Love Potatoes!

EnglishKim

I really like to eat potatoes, baked, fried, and boiled. I like to eat potatoes in almost every way I’ve ever tried them. In English there are a number of ways to say you like something; which words you choose depends on how strongly you like whatever it is that you like. Here are some examples expressing liking from more to less intense, all of which are true for me:

I adore potatoes.

I relish potatoes.
I love potatoes.

I'm a fan of potatoes.

I’m fond of potatoes.

Some of my family members do not like potatoes. In English there are a number of ways to say you dislike something; which words you choose depends on how strongly you dislike whatever it is. Here are some examples of how my family might say they dislike something, from more to less intense:

I detest potatoes.

I can’t stand potatoes.

I hate potatoes.

I’m not a fan of potatoes.

I'm not fond of potatoes.

Do you like potatoes? Are they a favourite food? What other foods do you like? Request a lesson with me and let’s chat about food or everything from soup to nuts. "From soups to nuts" is an idiomatic expression meaning "including everything", and "from the beginning to the end", as in all the courses of a meal.
