Hello! I want to introduce you guys to a unique and interesting tradition in Ifugao, a province in the Philippines. This is a ritual called yabyab, which is basically a prayer of thanksgiving as well as asking for blessings for the town and for the festival we were attending. The older men in the community will do this tradition for events like festivals, or even when buying a new house or field for planting rice. There are so many cool and unique traditions here, but a lot of cultural traditions are dying out as more and more people quit doing them. I am so glad that these men are keeping this tradition alive today. Hopefully they will teach the younger generation so that it can still continue after they are gone....
What kinds of old traditons are practiced in your country? I know there is the traditional tea ceremony in Japan, and in China I think they have their own traditional tea ceremony. I would love to watch those some day! There are so many interesting cultural practices in different places. I would love to hear about your traditons in your place! There is a lot to learn from each other :)
Come on and let's speak English together! We can work on improving your grammar and pronunciation, and at the same time learn more from each other about interesting things in our cultures. There's even humor that is different in different cultures haha! A wealth of knowledge is at our fingertips :D if you don't know that American expression, I can explain it haha! I really enjoy teaching and helping out with learning- come on and join me :)
