It's Wimbledon time in the UK! Wimbledon is a world-famous tennis tounament held each summer in Wimbledon - the name of a suburb of southwest London.

The Wimbledon tennis tournament is one of the world's most prestigious and longest running competitions of its kind.  It has been held since 1877. Several stars and celebrities tend to watch some of the tennis matches - such as David Beckham. Members of the British royal family also attend. Catherine (Kate), Princess of Wales is currently patron of the Wimbledon tennis club and generally a regular attendee during the tournament.

For those watching in person and at home on TV, a British tradition is eating strawberries, cream and meringues while watching the matches! Every summer the supermarket shelves fill with strawberries and cream - all set for watching the tennis sets. Berries grow very well in the British climate, so if you are in the UK over the summer I recommend eating a lot of the fresh and seasonal strawberries, raspberries etc!
