言語を学び始めると、よくこんな疑問が出てきます。
「まずは文法をしっかり勉強するべき？それとも会話を重視するべき？」
その答えは、実は一つではありません。
大切なのは、自分に合った道を選ぶことです。
旅行で使いたい方、カフェで注文したい方、
道を尋ねたり、日常の中で話したい方には、
まずは会話から始めるのがおすすめです。
たとえ少し間違えても、通じた瞬間の喜びは、何よりのモチベーションになります。
一方で、文章を書きたい、試験に合格したい、
文学やニュースを読めるようになりたいなら、
文法や語彙の基礎がとても大切です。
それが土台になって、言葉に深みが出ます。
でも、実は一番理想的なのは「バランス」です。
会話は言葉の「心」を学び、
文法は言葉の「形」を理解させてくれます。
私は先生として、いつも生徒さん一人ひとりの今の気持ちに寄り添いたいと思っています。
「話したい！」という気持ちを優先したい時もあれば、
「まずは静かに理解したい」という時もあります。
言語は、「会話」か「文法」か、という戦いではなく、
まるで呼吸のようなバランス。
どちらも、あなたの言葉になるために大切な一歩です。

“먼저 문법부터 해야 하나요? 아니면 회화부터 시작해야 하나요?”
사실 정답은 하나가 아닙니다.
중요한 건, 지금 나에게 맞는 길을 찾는 것이에요.
여행에서 바로 쓰고 싶거나,
카페에서 주문하고 싶거나,
길을 물어보고 싶은 분들에게는
회화 중심의 수업이 정말 좋아요.
조금 틀리더라도, 말이 통했을 때의 기쁨은
무엇보다 강한 동기부여가 돼요.
반대로, 글을 잘 쓰고 싶거나,
시험을 준비하거나,
뉴스나 책을 읽고 싶은 분들은
문법과 어휘가 탄탄한 기반이 되어줘요.
구조를 이해하면, 말에도 깊이가 생기죠.
사실 가장 좋은 방법은, 둘을 함께 배우는 거예요.
회화는 언어의 “숨결”이고,
문법은 언어의 “뼈대”예요.
저는 선생님으로서 항상 생각해요.
지금 이 학생에게 가장 필요한 건 뭘까?
지금은 실수해도 말하는 연습이 필요할까,
아니면 조용히 이해할 시간이 먼저일까?
언어는 회화냐 문법이냐, 둘 중 하나를 선택하는 싸움이 아니에요.
그건 마치 숨쉬기와 같아요.
둘 다 있어야, 말이 살아나요.

When you start learning a new language, one question always comes up:
“Should I focus on grammar first, or start with conversation?”
The truth is — there’s no single right answer.
What matters is finding the path that fits you.
If your goal is to travel, order coffee, or ask for directions,
then conversational learning is a great place to begin.
Even with mistakes, the joy of being understood is powerful.
It brings confidence, motivation, and real progress.
But if you want to write beautifully, pass exams, or read books and news,
then a strong base in grammar and vocabulary is your friend.
It gives structure, clarity, and depth.
In fact, the best approach is to combine both.
Conversation teaches the heart of the language.
Grammar teaches the shape of the language.
As a teacher, I always try to feel what the student needs right now.
Do they need space to speak, even with mistakes?
Or do they first need quiet understanding before they’re ready to speak?
Language isn’t a battle between “academic” and “conversational.”
It’s like breathing —
you need both the inhale and the exhale for the language to live.
