How I learned my second language ( and what you can learn from my experience)

Nanie T

When I started learning my second language, I was excited—but also scared. I remember my first conversation with a native speaker. My hands were sweating, my heart was racing, and I could only say: Hello… my name is… Then silence.

Sound familiar?

The truth is, learning a language is not about being perfect. It’s about being brave enough to make mistakes and learn from them. When I understood this, everything changed.

Here are 3 things that helped me improve quickly:

1. Speak every day—even if you make mistakes.

I practiced with anyone who would listen: friends, classmates, even strangers online. Every mistake was a lesson.

2. Use real-life situations.

Instead of only reading grammar books, I practiced what I needed—like ordering food, asking for directions, and chatting casually.

3. Make it fun!

I watched movies, listened to music, and even sang out loud (badly!) in the language. It helped me relax and enjoy the process.

Now, I bring these strategies into my lessons. If you feel nervous about speaking or you want to improve your confidence, I can help you step by step—just like I did for myself.

Let’s make learning fun and practical. Book a trial lesson with me today and start speaking confidently!
