Staying motivated during the cold months can be tough...unless you have hobbies! Three of my favorites are Ameican Mahjong, Virtual Exercise Classes, and Foreign Language Movies.
One of my favorite indoor hobbies is American Mahjong. It is a fun and fast-paced game which combines luck and skill. The American game is played with 152 tiles including flowers, dragons, and jokers. In winter, it is fun to share the game with friends and socialize while sharpening memory and concentration.
Another favorite indoor hobby is Virtual Exercise Class. From the comfort of home, participants can practice yoga, lift weights, or show off zumba dance moves, all to uplifting and motivating music. In winter, keeping fit is easy and fun with the help of virtual classes.
Finally, if you are studying a language, watching movies in that language is a wonderful way to pass long winter nights. Even in the most severe weather, it is fun to "journey" to other countries as we learn their languages. Listening (with subtitles in the target language) is a fun and wonderful way to learn and keep motivated.
If you would like to practice speaking English while learning new vocabulary, why not try my class on hobbies? It is free to new students with the attached coupon.
