Apart from the day itself, there are all the preparations to do. It is true that some people do not like Christmas shopping and others complain about how commercial it all is. However apart from the fun of receiving gifts, it can also be fun to think about what your friends and family might like and to get something nice for them. Many people also buy a small present for their own pets or for other people's pets!
If you make your own Christmas pudding, there is a special day at the end of November to do this, called stir-up Sunday. You can also try making homemade sweets for presents or making your own Xmas cards. Even with all the products on shop shelves, there are still some people who bake cakes or make biscuits to give away to neighbours at this time of year.
At this time of year when it becomes cold and dark, what better than to put up decorations in your home, or to admire other people's which they put outside on their houses and in their gardens. Lit up reindeer, for example, or lights. To be traditional, you can put up holly with berries to bring good luck.
