How I Use Winter Reading to Boost My English Students’ Confidence

周间主题: Winter break reading list for curious minds

Teacher Mason F

Every winter break, many of my students tell me the same thing:

“I want to improve my English, but I don’t want to study too much during the holidays…”

Good news — you don’t have to!
Winter is the perfect moment for light, enjoyable reading that still helps your English grow.

Here are the 3 types of reading I often recommend:

Feel-good short stories — perfect for relaxing before bed
Articles about your hobbies — cooking, travel, film, music, technology
Bilingual texts — easy to understand and great for quick learning

The best part? Even 10 minutes a day can make your speaking smoother and more natural. Many of my students bring what they read into our conversations, and it always leads to fun, meaningful practice.

If you’d like a personalised winter reading plan or want to talk about a book or article you’re reading, I’d love to help. Enjoy your winter break — and keep your curiosity warm!
