Portmanteau Words Make Me Chortle at Christmas!

Portmanteau words make me chortle!

A portmanteau is a linguistic blend of words in which parts of multiple words are combined into a new word, typically by merging the sounds and meanings. This device is often used to create catchy, concise terms that convey a combined meaning. Lewis Carroll of  'Alice in Wonderland' fame invented 'chortle' (a combination of 'chuckle' and 'snort').

Don't get 'hangry' at Christmas time (hungry and angry). Have some mince pies! Dig out the mistetoe! (Originally: 'mistle' and 'toe').

Do you prefer 'brunching' or ' chillaxing' at Yuletide?  Don't get influenza or 'affluenza' (lack of empathy to those less affluent than yourself). I promise not to accuse you of 'mansplaining' if you share your portmanteau words!
