Idioms - useful and fun!

Mark St

Hello everyone!

I often find idioms are a useful way of quickly checking how fluent in English someone is. If you are someone who regulalry speaks English with native speakers, then knowing some idioms can be a great way of enhancing your fluency.

I'm a strong believer in the value of remembering at least a few idioms! How to remember phrases that at first glance don't seem to make sense is a challenge, and one that I try to overcome in my lessons.

Take the weather - a common subject for discussion amongst native English speakers. We can use some to comment on the weather itself - it's "raining cats and dogs" for example - or to allude to something else entirely - I'm feeling "under the weather" today.

I would be "over the moon" if you "take the plunge" and choose to have a lesson with me!

Thanks!
Mark
