When and Why I Decided to Become a Teacher

Weekly Topic: When and why did you decide to become a teacher?

Miss Yvonne

I decided to become a teacher when I realized how powerful communication is.
I’ve always enjoyed helping people express themselves clearly and confidently, especially in a language that isn’t their first.

Over time, teaching English became more than just a job for me. It became a way to support others in reaching their goals, whether for work, travel, or everyday conversations. Seeing students gain confidence, improve their speaking skills, and enjoy using English is what motivates me the most.

I believe learning should be friendly, encouraging, and practical. That’s why I focus on creating lessons where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning through real conversations.

Teaching allows me to connect with people from different cultures and grow together with my students, and that’s why I continue to love what I do.
