東京駅から2駅、新橋駅の近くには、日本テレビの社屋があります。その外壁に設置されているのが、ジブリの世界観を感じさせる大きなからくり時計です。宮崎駿さんがデザインしたこの時計は、時間になると動き出し、多くの人が足を止めます。日本テレビは、スタジオジブリ作品のテレビ放映権を持っています。そのため、日本ではジブリ映画をサブスクリプションサービスで自由に視聴することができません。海外では配信されている国もありますが、日本国内では配信されていないのが現状です。一見すると少し不思議に感じますが、これは放映権や配信権のビジネス構造によるものです。テレビ局と映画会社の長年の関係が、視聴の形にも影響を与えています。

Two stations from Tokyo Station, near Shimbashi, stands the headquarters of Nippon Television. On its exterior wall hangs a large mechanical clock that reflects the world of Studio Ghibli. Designed by Hayao Miyazaki, the clock comes to life at certain times of the day, drawing the attention of many passersby. Nippon Television holds the broadcasting rights to Studio Ghibli films in Japan. As a result, Ghibli movies are generally not available on subscription streaming services within Japan. Interestingly, in some countries overseas, they can be streamed—but not in Japan itself. At first glance, this may seem unusual, but it is the result of how broadcasting and distribution rights are structured. Long-standing relationships between television networks and film studios continue to influence how audiences access content.
