Easter Celebration

Ms Cathy

Easter is a Christian festival, which falls on a different date every year. This year it is on the 5th April 2026. Some European countries call this festival 'Pasca' or 'Pasches'.

Technically, it comes on the first Sunday after the full moon that occurs on, or soonest after, 21st March. The day that people are most familiar with is Easter Sunday. This is the day that Christians often attend church, and children receive chocolate eggs. Easter actually comprises  of a number of special days. Days that relate to Easter but come before it include Shrove Tuesday (Pancake day) Ash Wednesday, and the fasting period known as Lent. The week before Easter is known as Holy Week and includes a number of special events relating to Easter. If you wish to know more about these special days, like Palm Sunday and Maundy Thursday, please book a lesson!

In reality many non-Christians celebrate Easter too. Children enjoy playing with toy bunny rabbits and eating Easter treats. Craft activities take place, and people plant pretty flowers in their gardens.

Celebrate Easter with me in a lesson. All students from all religious or non-religious backgrounds are welcome! We may even crack open a chocolate egg in the lesson!
