Mastering the Art of Balance: Study Smarter, Not Longer

Kay M

Struggling to find time for both studies and yourself? You’re not alone. Here are 3 quick guidelines to help you find balance without the guilt.

1. Mix Active & Passive Study

Active: Focused work (textbooks, writing). Keep it to 45–60 minutes, then take a break.

Passive: Learn while you relax—listen to podcasts on a walk or watch a movie with subtitles.

2. Schedule Your Free Time First
Block out time for yourself before planning study sessions. When rest becomes a priority, you’ll study more efficiently and enjoy your breaks guilt-free.

3. Create a Transition Ritual
Do one small thing to mark the end of study time—make tea, step outside, close your books. This helps your brain switch off and truly relax.
