Study Smart, Rest Better: Finding Your Perfect Balance

Maddie Mikaya

Let’s be honest studying all the time can feel exhausting. But having too much free time can also make us feel unproductive.

So how do we find the balance?

Here are a few simple tips that actually work:

1. Create a simple study routine

You don’t need a strict timetable, just a simple plan.

For example:
•Study for 30–60 minutes
•Take a short break
•Repeat

This helps your brain stay focused without getting tired.

2. Make your free time guilt-free

Rest is important
Watching a movie, chatting with friends, or relaxing is NOT wasting time.

When you rest properly, you come back to studying with more energy.

3. Set small, realistic goals

Instead of saying: “I’ll study everything today”
Try: “I’ll learn 5 new words” or “I’ll practice speaking for 20 minutes”

Small wins build confidence!

4. Mix learning with fun

Learning doesn’t have to be boring

You can:
•Watch movies in English
•Listen to music
•Have simple conversations

This makes studying feel natural and enjoyable.

5. Don’t be too hard on yourself

Some days you’ll feel motivated, some days you won’t and that’s okay.

Progress is still progress, even if it’s small.

Final thoughts

Balance is not about being perfect, it’s about being consistent and kind to yourself.

Study a little, rest a little, and enjoy the journey
