■「ついたち」について
1日（ついたち）は「月立ち（つきたち）」が変化した言葉です。昔の日本は月の満ち欠けで日付を数えていたので、月が立つ（始まる）日＝1日となりました。
■「ふつか」「みっか」について
2日〜10日の読み方は、古い日本語の数の数え方から来ています。ひとつ・ふたつ・みっつ…と同じ流れです。
■「はつか」について
20日は「にじゅうにち」ではなく「はつか」と読みます。これも古い日本語で「二十（はた）」という数え方が残ったものです。「二十歳」を「はたち」と読むのも同じ理由です。

■ About “tsuitachi” (1st)
The word “tsuitachi” (1st day of the month) comes from “tsukitachi,” which means “the rising of the moon.” In the past, people in Japan counted days based on the phases of the moon, so the day the moon began (rose) became the first day of the month.
■ About “futsuka” and “mikka”
The readings for the 2nd–10th come from old Japanese counting words. They follow the same pattern as hitotsu, futatsu, mittsu, and so on.
■ About “hatsuka” (20th)
The 20th is read “hatsuka,” not “nijuu-nichi.” This comes from an old Japanese word for twenty, “hata.” For the same reason, “20 years old” is read “hatachi.”

■ 關於「tsuitachi」（1日）
「tsuitachi」這個詞來自「tsukitachi」，意思是「月亮升起」。在以前的日本，人們是依照月亮的盈虧來計算日期，因此月亮開始（升起）的那一天，就成為1日。
■ 關於「futsuka」「mikka」
2日～10日的讀法，來自古日語的數數方式。和「hitotsu、futatsu、mittsu……」是同樣的系統。
■ 關於「hatsuka」（20日）
20日不是讀作「nijuu-nichi」，而是讀作「hatsuka」。這是因為古日語中「二十」的說法是「hata」。同樣地，「20歲」也讀作「hatachi」。
