My favorite German dessert: Mohnkuchen mit Streusel

Weekly Topic: Tell us about your favorite dessert or dish

Jonas

Cake is very popular in Germany and we have many different types of cakes. That's why there are bakeries in every city and town. People especially love to eat cake on the weekend when they have time to enjoy it. My favorite cake is called Mohnkuchen mit Streusel.

Streusel means crumbles and that's the topping of the cake. But the main ingredient and the filling is made of poppy seeds. These black tiny seeds come from the Poppy flower and they are mixed with butter, milk, sugar and food starch to create the filling.

If you are interested in German culture or just want to practice speaking German, you can book a lesson with me. I would be happy to get to know you and help you with your language goals.

Dankeschön :)
