It's Pride Month!

Miss Ren.

Happy Pride!

Pride refers to a general celebration for LGBTQ+ people, communities, and allies!

I'd like to first "come out" and let you know a little bit more about me. I'd also like to make myself available for questions about being LGBTQ+, about LGBTQ+ things, and more!

I am asexual, meaning I do not feel attracted to people for that reason. To be a bit simplistic, I don't personally find people 'sexy.' Instead, I can know or feel that they're beautiful, stunning, gorgeous, etc... I just don't feel as though I want to do anything with them!

I also call myself queer, since being asexual (in and of itself) is against social norms. Specifically, asexual people often notice that the sort of "list" of "things adults do" doesn't fit us. For example, this social checklist might include: dating, getting married, having children, etc. While some ace people do date, get married, or have children, many of us feel that one or all of those items are uninteresting, unnecessary, or would be awful!

For this reason, being an ace person who is married can be quite confusing to some. Why get married if you're not attracted to your spouse in that way?

In English, we freely and more easily say "I love you" to people we are emotionally close with, including close friends. When dating, people often feel as though saying "I love you" is an important step that can start or solidify their relationship.

For many asexual people who are married, we love our partners! It just doesn't align with all of what most people view as a relationship.

If you have any further, respectful, questions, I would like to say that I'm free to answer! For obvious reasons, I will be somewhat vague, especially about my spouse (it's not my information to disclose). But if you earnestly would like to talk about this subject, I am comfortable doing so!
