A Unique Photography Experience in Kyoto.

Haru.Haru

Hello, I’m Haru.

Today, I’d like to introduce a popular tourist experience in Japan: "Henshin Shashin," or "transformation photography."

While many travelers in Japan enjoy renting kimonos or yukatas to stroll through the city, "Henshin Shashin" has recently been gaining significant attention. This experience involves professional hair, makeup, and dressing—allowing you to transform into traditional figures like a Maiko or a Samurai—followed by a professional studio photoshoot.

Interestingly, this style of photography is said to have originated from a trend in Taiwan, and it has since become an established way to experience traditional Japanese culture in a unique, modern format.

Please keep in mind that these photo studios usually require detailed reservations in advance, and last-minute cancellations are generally not permitted.

If you are planning to try this experience during your visit to Kyoto or Tokyo, I encourage you to look into the cultural background, as well as the polite Japanese expressions needed for the booking process.

If you would like to handle these interactions smoothly during your trip to Japan, please feel free to book my lesson. I am here to support you so that you can use Japanese with confidence, from making your initial reservation to the day of your appointment!
