The other day, I was sitting in front of my laptop trying to finish my tasks for the week. For some reason, it felt nearly impossible. I felt as though my ability to innovate and come up with interesting, fun solutions had completely vanished. We have normalized demanding an extremely high level of creative output from our minds, yet we forget that creating unique ideas is far from optimal in an environment filled with repetition and constant pressure. So, how can we keep our creativity awake? How can we prevent routine and monotony from limiting us so heavily?
In my experience, creativity doesn't stem from rigid, structured methodologies, but rather from small moments where we play and experiment without expecting a specific outcome.

Take cooking, for example. I can guarantee that EVERY masterpiece of a dish we thoroughly enjoy was born out of experimentation. What happens if I combine cheese with cilantro, or fish with a particular mix of spices? This kind of improvisation allows us to make mistakes without facing consequences that leave us feeling restricted by the pursuit of perfection.
Similarly, letting yourself get carried away by the rhythm of music isn't a sequenced, structured process—it is pure intuition and passion that, when well-directed, lead us to incredible results. Have you ever heard of the mind-body connection? An exhausted mind can be restored through movement: dancing, boxing, swimming, among many other activities. Physical movement oxygenates the body, which ultimately unblocks the ideas and feelings that previously felt stuck.

Crafting the perfect dish, breaking a 10k personal record, composing the next symphony of the century—these aren't the goals we pursue when we cook, run, or play music. We are simply looking for a safe space where, with the freedom to make mistakes and adjustments, we can feel good about ourselves while exploring a world of possibilities.
You don't need to dedicate hours to these hobbies, nor do you need to turn them into productive projects. Choose your favorite pastime and gift yourself a few hours a week to do what you love, and feel how that change of pace keeps your creativity active. Oh, and keep your phone or a notebook nearby! You'll definitely want to write down any idea that pops up during these moments—no matter how wild it seems, it might just be the start of something fantastic.
