English Survival Guide - Episode 7: Small Talk

Dani L.

A lot of us don’t like small talk but we need to do it!

4 questions to keep handy:

1. What do you do for fun?

2. What have you been up to?

3. How’s work?

4. Do you know anyone here?

Vocabulary/expressions from this video:

To go through the motions (idiom) = to do an action mechanically, without any real interest, energy, or emotional care.

To get into something (phrasal verb) = to become interested in or enthusiastic about an activity, hobby, or subject.

To feel stale (metaphorical meaning) = if something feels stale, it doesn’t feel fresh or exciting
