Recharging Your Routine: My Secret to Staying Motivated After a Long Break

Returning to a regular routine or language learning after a long break can feel like climbing a steep mountain. Whether you took time off for summer vacation, a holiday, or just needed a rest, getting your momentum back is always the hardest part.

When I find myself struggling to get back into the groove, here are three simple strategies I use to bring back my motivation:

. Start with Micro-Steps: I don't try to jump back into a 2-hour study session immediately. I start with just 5 or 10 minutes a day. Read one page, listen to one song, or review five vocabulary words. Small actions build big momentum!

. Find Your "Why" Again: I take a moment to look back at why I started in the first place. Reminding yourself of your ultimate goal—whether it's traveling, career growth, or personal enjoyment—can instantly reignite your spark.

. Schedule a Fun Session: Don't make your return all about boring drills. Pick an activity you love, like watching a movie with subtitles, reading a comic, or booking a casual conversation lesson just to chat!
