However, Chiang Mai had a very different plan for me.
From the moment I arrived, the change in atmosphere was palpable. Where Hong Kong demanded urgency, Chiang Mai offered tranquility. The mornings here start gently with cool breezes, bird song, and the rich aroma of locally grown coffee. The local community moves with a genuine warmth and kindness that immediately makes you feel welcome.
Instead of constantly looking at the clock or rushing to the next commitment, I found myself learning to appreciate a slower, more intentional pace. I began spending long afternoons reading in cafes, exploring different neighborhoods, and enjoying unhurried conversations with locals and fellow expats alike.
As the weeks turned into months, the idea of packing up my bags lost all its appeal. Chiang Mai had quietly transformed from a temporary pit stop into a true home. I realized I no longer wanted to live out of a suitcase—I wanted to put down real roots.
Today, my life looks completely different from my high-speed days in Hong Kong. Instead of a cramped city apartment, I live in a peaceful house surrounded by greenery, shared with my three energetic dogs. My daily routine now includes evening walks through quiet streets with my dogs, teaching online, and embracing the simple joys of a balanced life.
