Why did HE win??

Hey, Everyone,

I'm sure most of you have heard by now that America has elected their 45th president today.

Donald Trump, from the Republican party, born 14 January 1946 in New York City, New York, will be taking office 20 January 2017 with Vice President Mike Pence.

He is currently married to Melania Knauss (married in 2005) and has 5 children (not all from his marriage with Melania).

He is the chair and president of The Trump Organization (founded by Donald's parents, Elizabeth and Fred in 1923). The headquarters is in the Trump Tower in New York City. The Trump Organization services includes: construction, real estate development, entertainment and hospitality, retailing and online shopping, and diversified investments. He owns hotels, golf courses, casinos, and a model agency.

So now you know some basic facts about Donald Trump. We all already know that he has made numerous racist, sexist, homophobic comments, as well as the sexual harassment charges against him, that he has no political experiences, wants to build a wall between America and Mexico  and destroy all World ties.

So... HOW DID HE WIN!?

Here are some responses to voters being interviewed about why they chose Trump:

-‘I don’t want the Clinton legacy continued in the White House’

-‘He knows how to make deals, deals that will make America prosperous again'

-‘I want conservative laws’

-‘Trump is exactly what you get, with Hillary you can’t know what’s real’

-‘Obama has put a wedge between the people of this country’

-‘Under Trump the American dream is revived’

-“I feel that Trump is our only hope in this next election. This is coming from someone who voted for Obama in the last election!”

-“Like the joker from The Dark Knight, I just want to see the world burn.”

-“I will vote for Donald Trump (and to a lesser extent Bernie Sanders) because he represents hope… And how much damage can he really do?”

-“He will expect greatness from us, he will tell us how to get to great, he will inspire people to be better than they are and have the hope that their efforts will not be thwarted by bigger government.”

-“I'm a young guy who is immature, a bit antisocial, and with no plans for kids or a wife ever. At some level, I don’t really care how things go with America as long as it’s fun to watch.”

-“His problem, according to the rest of the GOP, is that he wants single-payer health care and that he doesn’t want to completely defund Planned Parenthood. I don’t agree with him but why is it a bad thing to be moderate? A moderate has a special ability to be a liaison between the parties.”

-“Many are right; it’s not about trusting Trump; it's a collective middle finger to the establishment… Trump isn't stupid, he gets it. He knows the more outrageous, the better.”

-"I won't let a Democrat into office again!"

There are lots of other reasons why some Americans voted for him.

Here is a link to a good article explaining further why he was elected:

He is now the American president, not much to do about it now. We will see what happens in the future.

FUN FACT: After the election, the Canadian Immigration site went down from too many Americans looking to immigrate to Canada :)

Book my conversation lesson to talk more about Trump and the election and what I, as an American, think of the situation.

Have a great day!!
