Also, there will be two or three terms per day for the rest of January.

Marathon

A marathon is a 42.195 kilometre race.

In real life it means a channel is playing all of the episodes of a show or all of the movies in a series, and it plays all day.

  • On Christmas day, some channels play a marathon of Christmas movies. It has these movies playing all day.

  • We once had a marathon of all of the Lord of the Rings movies.

In the long run

A long run is about the same thing as a marathon.

In real life, it refers to the results of something a long time from now.

  • It may be more expensive to buy a hybrid car, but in the long run it will save money on fuel.

  • Studying all the time may be boring, but in the long run it will mean a more successful career.

  • Exercising everyday won't have results now, but in the long run there will be a big change.
