In honor of St. Valentine's Day yesterday, here are some idioms about love and how to use them!! <3

1. Falling in love with someone / falling for someone means you start feeling love towards someone. 

How to use this idiom: 

• I think I'm falling in love with Mark.

• I'm falling for you, Alice!!

• I fell in love with Frank.

• You fell for Tom, didn't you??

• Have you fallen for me??

• I think I've fallen in love with Elise.

2. Love at first sight means you feel love for someone the very first time you see them.

How to use this idiom:

• I met him at a party. It was love at first sight.

• You've been married for 20 years now. Was it love at first sight or did your love grow over time??

• It was love at first sight, I swear!! It doesn't matter that I don't know her yet, she's all I think about!!

3. To be an item means to be in a romantic relationship.

How to use this idiom:

• I didn't realize you and Mary were an item. I won't ask her out to dinner anymore. 

• John and I are officially an item now!! 

• It's not like you and Joe are an item or anything. I can flirt with him if I want to.

4. Match made in heaven means a relationship that works really well. The couple are very good for each other and seem like they will last. A relationship so good it's almost as if a god made the relationship happen or they were made for each other.

How to use this idiom:

• My grandparents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary tomorrow. They really are a match made in heaven. 

• You seem like a match made in heaven. When is the wedding again??

• You and I both know we aren't exactly a match made in heaven. We fight all the time and I feel really unappreciated by you. 

• I don't want a match made in heaven, I just want to be happy.

5. Be head over heels (in love) means to be completely and totally in love with someone. 

How to use this idiom:

• Brittany is head over heels for that boy across the street.

• You should go on a date with him!! He seems head over heels in love with you!!

• My parents have been head over heels for each other since they first met.

• I wish I could find someone who was head over heels in love with me.
